I find this lady quite inspirational. The care, time and patience she gave to her disabled husband went beyond marital obligations, in my opinion. Jane gives a factual account of her relationship with Stephen Hawking listing both major and minor events in both of their lives. She provided detailed descriptions of his work in terms that I, a lay person, had the ability to grasp adequately. Her writing is clear and concise with little or no flowery descriptions and yet, delivers true feeling with every memory, both the good and the bad.
For those that don't have much of an interest in the lives of Stephen and Jane Hawking, I advise you to consider it for your book club. In my opinion, this title represents a very solid book club choice. It gives an insightful account of how attitudes have changed towards those with disabilities and certainly, will make you aware of how much this one lady has changed those attitudes. This book will leave you thoughtful and aware. Aware that nothing is ever as it seems.
